Dale and Lea Callahan came up with the idea for AskDrCallahan when they were homeschooling their kids. Dale and Lea started homeschooling when their oldest daughters were about to hit 6th and 10th grade. As they were picking out curriculum, what they noticed is that there was a serious lack of good, college prepatory educational material out there. Undaunted, and undeterred, Dale and Lea simply teamed up to tailor make courses for their daughters, adding in supplemental material and even tweeking the courses where they needed until Dr. Callahan, the graduate professor at UAB, was satisfied that his kids would be able to enter the college arena well prepared. What took place then surprised even the Callahan's.

Their family and friends started signing up to take classes from them. Homeschool cooperative classes were being held out of their basement and so many students were eager to take these college prep classes that Dale and Lea simply didn't have the time to personally teach all of them, so they put the classes on DVD. and Thus, AskDrCallahan was born. Aptly named, students are still able to "Ask" Dr. Callahan, and a whole staff of tutors, teachers, and general email-responders, any questions they come across throughout the courses. This commitment to detail, attention to students, and high standard of excellence make AskDrCallahan courses a much needed asset in the homeschool education world.

Meet The Team

 Here are the faces behind the courses (and few faces OF the courses)

Dr. Dale Callahan                   

Dale's is Associate Professor of Engineering at the University of Alabama at Birmingham where he is the director of the IEM Program. Having been on faculty since 2000, he has seen first hand the results of a poor math background. Dreams get destroyed or delayed when the new engineering students hit the wall with college math classes designed for the science and engineering majors. The view from the other side has had a major impact on the homeschooling material. 

He came up with the ideas and keeps us all motivated and on fire about what we do here.

Lea Callahan

Lea makes sure we all make sense around here. . Lea keeps us from sounding ridiculous. We are all in line, on time, and under budget because she is on the job!

Cassidy Cash    

She is our Social Media Specialist and Homework Help guru. When you email Homework Help, she's who you talk with. Cassidy is also the face you will see on the Algebra 1 DVD (though she now has a brand spankin' new last name--oo special!)

Tim Cash       

In addition to being the reason Cassidy got a new last name, he's also in charge of shipping. When you place an order, get it shipped, and wait expectantly for your new stuff, thank Tim! He's on the ball about shipping and distribution.

Catrina Callahan           

She is our design and creative expert. Catrina is in charge of all things design. This girl can photoshop! All our crazy-good  DVD covers, booklet designs, and generally good looking nature of our products, yeh. That's all because  Catrina is a super-whiz at computer design and all things art.

Elliot Cash

The newest member of the AskDrCallahan Team, Elliot is the son of Tim and Cassidy Cash and is the most motivated student. He is  8 months now and already into Algebra 2, which you can tell by the teeth marks he left on the binding of his mom's copy :)
